Man hospitalized after officers fire at him near Golden

GOLDEN – A man is being treated for life-threatening injuries after authorities shot at him in Colorado.

The shots were fired Sunday night along U.S. Highway 6 near Golden.

Colorado State Patrol Maj. Steve Garcia says a trooper came upon a vehicle parked in pullout along the road in Clear Creek Canyon. After discovering it was connected with an alleged felony crime in Denver, the trooper called for more help. After other officers arrived, Garcia says the car began to drive forward. He says something else happened which he said is still being investigated and a state trooper and a Jefferson County sheriff’s deputy fired.

Garcia says a girl who was in the vehicle was also injured, apparently from the vehicle going down the road’s embankment.
