Mancos’ last Grand Summer Nights’ block party of season is Saturday

Art food and children’s activities will be available
Organizers of Grand Summer Nights in Mancos make it a point to provide kid activities, including this free-form painting, face painting and calf-roping demonstrations.

The Mancos Creative District announces its final Grand Summer Nights of the season on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 5-8 p.m.

Grand Avenue, in the heart of downtown, will be closed to traffic from Main Street to Mesa Street.

Musical entertainment will be the Southwest Civic Winds Jazz Orchestra from Durango, playing classical jazz and big band songs for dancing in the street. Food and art vendors will be available, downtown art galleries will be open, and an activity area, a roping steer and a roping demonstration will be available for children.

“This is a fun, and free family event,” Jim Dodson, of the Creative District, told The Journal in an email. “We encourage everyone in Cortez, Dolores and Mancos to come join us for this last Grand Summer Nights of 2018.”

At the intersection of art and adventure, Mancos Creative District is the catalyst in creating a vibrant and sustainable economy hub benefiting the Mancos Valley by empowering our diverse creative community and honoring our rich culture heritage.
