Regarding Lisa Jacob’s letter (Herald, Oct. 29), I strongly agree and I would like to add these additional thoughts:
There are many more “victims” of this alleged assault, albeit none even close to the original victim.
I am the grandmother of one of the accused men, and filled with revulsion, outrage, shame and guilt. I go to bed and wake up in pain, in turmoil and in incredible sadness for everyone involved.
All of us involved, indirectly and directly, have our own issues involved with this, and each of us has our own horrors and grief – and many more emotions – to live with and feel deeply and constantly about.
I am also outraged by the attitude of the owner of HomeSlice Pizza and afraid she is not alone. She apparently does not see anything offensive about her sign and feels we should deal with our pain in “a more productive manner” than calling her.
Since she does not seem capable or willing to hear us, perhaps she’s right. So let’s try to work with others with attitudes that might help.
What can we do to change those destructive attitudes held by our president on down in our society to prevent these atrocities before they happen?
Is anyone in this community willing to help the Sexual Assault Services Organization face this ugliness and try to find ways to address it?
