The ThunderWolves took a bite out of the Fort Lewis College volleyball team Saturday in Pueblo.
CSU-Pueblo (10-7, 4-4 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) defeated the Skyhawks 3-1 (28-30, 25-11, 25-20, 25-17) to hand FLC (5-11, 2-6 RMAC) its fourth loss in five matches.
The first set was a war, though.
The teams never separated more than two points in the set, and FLC senior Ashley Wells finished it out with three consecutive kills.
Wells led the Skyhawks with 17 kills and added 14 digs for a double-double.
The ThunderWolves responded well, winning the next three sets by at least five points. Three players had double-digit kills for CSU-Pueblo, led by Mariangel Perez and Morgan Wilkening with 14 each.
Stephanie Sonka also had 10 kills for FLC, while libero Ally Dell’Amico led the team with 20 digs.
Heather Danny and Ciara Krening split the setting duties for FLC. Danny led the team with 21 assists, while Krening had a double-double with 19 assists and 12 digs.
FLC will return home to face New Mexico Highlands at 7 p.m. Friday at Whalen Gymnasium.
