100-unit building may be finished in a year
Construction on a 100-unit hotel near the Durango Mall will start in the spring.
The three-story Springhill Suites by Marriott will be built on a triangular piece of property bordered by Turner Drive, Mercury Village Drive and U.S. Highway 160/550.
Construction is expected to take 10 to 12 months, according to paperwork submitted by the developer to the city.
Premier Hospitality wanted to build in Durango because of high occupancy rates in town, the company’s CEO said in a previous interview.
Durango City Council gave final approval to the project last week. “I think it will be an asset to Durango,” Councilor Sweetie Marbury said.
