May Day event to celebrate world workers

A May Day and International Workers’ Day celebration will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.

The event will include speakers, workshops and the Durango “Really Really Free Market.” The free, noncommercial market, hosted by Dirty Hands Collective, allows attendees an opportunity to bring and trade items in a potluck-style, community-oriented way.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring protest and social-movement signs and banners. Examples of topics include: indigenous struggles and solidarity, labor rights, migrant justice, social justice, environmental and climate justice, racial justice and community organizing.

Those who bring items that are leftover after the event are asked to take them home.
