Maybe others could pass out plastic bags

If the intent is to stop people using disposable bags, a 10-cent penalty is not enough. This penalty will proportionately hurt the people in the lowest income brackets the most. One should outlaw the use of disposable bags if that is the aim.

Is it not discriminatory to apply this proposed law only to certain grocery stores such as Walmart, City Market and Albertsons ?

What about those of us who are concerned about our health? I don’t want to shop where my shopping cart contains the same reusable bags that have been slept on and maybe urinated upon by a previous customer’s pet. Will there be mandatory regular washing of reusable bags? There is no question that new disposable bags will be cleaner.

What will the City Council do if some of us decide to distribute free plastic bags outside some stores?

Misguided is the most polite way I can explain the actions of these elected members of the City Council.
