A memorial Mass and service for Blanca Esthela Valdivia Baldo, the late mother of Rosa Sabido, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Mancos United Methodist Church, 470 Grand Ave., in Mancos.
Valdivia, 71, of Cortez, died July 23 in Mexico. Her daughter, Sabido, is an undocumented immigrant who has lived in sanctuary since June 2017 in Mancos.
According to Sabido, Valdivia was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer in December and sought treatment in Mexico to be near her relatives. She died of a heart attack after her first chemotherapy treatment, Sabido said.
Father Pat Valdez and Pastor Craig Paschal will lead the memorial service, which will be followed by a reception.
