If you were wondering who came away with top honors from the highly competitive Men Who Grill event last weekend, wonder no more.
Judges awarded points for presentation and flavor, of course, but also for ingenuity and level of craft. They awarded their top $250 prize to T’s Smokehouse and J. Bo’s Ribs and Pizza, which served not only little pink cubes of beef tenderloin but the killer dish of the day, shrimp in Cajun sauce over creamy grits.
The public, however, voted in Honeyville’s grill team for Honey-aki shrimp, the grilled apple dessert (the best of the four offerings at the event) and their unique honey-infused bourbon, which they offered in paper sampling cups to anyone who asked. They sure know how to work a crowd. And they received $250 for their efforts as well.
La Plata Family Medicine won first place for best cuisine, the Hot Heads reeled in the award for best veggie dish and Backcountry Experience blew away the field with their black crow get-ups for best costume award.
