Chalk up a public-relations victory for Mercury. The Durango company has made Outside Magazine’s top 100 “Best Places to Work” list for 2013.
Mercury, which describes itself as “a leading provider of payment processing and revenue generating solutions,” is No. 89 on Outside’s sixth annual list.
The list was compiled with the help of the Outdoor Industry Association and Best Companies Group, according to a news release Thursday from Mercury.
“We’re thrilled to celebrate with the other companies named to Outside’s ‘Best Places to Work,’” Mercury CEO Matt Taylor said in the news release.
Mercury employs about 700 people, about 400 in Durango. About a month ago, it laid off 25 employees.
Taylor described those layoffs as part of the normal course of business as the company grows.
“This isn’t unprecedented,” he said.
If you’re curious, the No. 1 company on the list is tiny Groundfloor Media, a public-relations firm in Denver with 15 employees and no turnover in 2012. One perk: It’s an easy walk to Coors Field.
Sure, but it’s not as close as Mercury to mountain-bike trails.
