Centura Health has appointed Patrick Sharp CEO of Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango, with his starting date set for Jan. 25.
Sharp comes to Durango after serving as president and CEO of Fairview Range Regional Medical Center in Hibbing, Minnesota, where he led a 175-bed hospital and was responsible for strategic planning and operations. His duties included oversight of associated primary and specialty care clinics and home health and hospice services.
“I am humbled to have been chosen as the next CEO of Mercy Regional Medical Center,” Sharp said in a news release from Centura Health. “I have been impressed with the people I have met, and I look forward to working with the staff, health care providers and Mercy’s board of trustees in fulfilling the organization’s mission.”
Lindsay Radford, spokeswoman for Centura Health, said Sharp will work with Mercy’s leadership team and Mercy interim CEO Michael Murphy to help smooth the leadership transition.
Mercy is an 82-bed acute care hospital owned by Centura Health.
Centura Health operates 17 hospitals in Colorado and western Kansas. It also operates two senior living communities, neighborhood health centers, physician practices and clinics, home care and hospice services, and Flight For Life Colorado.
While at Fairview Range, Sharp also held positions of chief operating officer and vice president of clinic operations and radiation therapy, supporting operations and strategic initiatives.
Before joining Fairview Range, Sharp served in regulatory compliance roles for Beckman Coulter, a biomedical firm in California; St. Jude Medical, a medical device company in Minnesota; and Boston Scientific, a medical device manufacturer in Massachusetts.
Sharp and his wife, Dr. Sereen Sharp, are parents of four children. Sharp is also pursuing a master’s degree in theology with an emphasis in philosophy.
“Patrick brings a wealth of experience, strong leadership and a passion for caring for the whole person,” said Richard Miller, chairman of the Mercy Regional Medical Center community board of trustees.
Sharp received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a Master of Business Administration from Augsburg College in Minneapolis.
