“Inside Durango TV,” the local television program that features current happenings in and around town, is getting a revamp after the company producing the show began a new partnership with local sign and graphics company FASTSIGNS of Durango.
The show’s producers hope to add more content to the local program, including a morning talk show, a weekly fitness program, expanded cooking and history segments, and guest pieces produced by local high school and college students. It’s also a goal to present live high school and college sports programming via television or web streaming.
The hope is to make the show more interesting and engaging for locals, said Laurie Sigillito, owner of FASTSIGNS.
The company producing the show also is changing names and ownership.
The show’s former producer, Animas Media, was put up for sale this spring after owner John Trousdale announced he was moving away. After getting word that Trousdale wanted to sell his business, Sigillito formed a new company called FASTFORWARD Media and purchased all of Animas Media’s assets, including equipment, studio and the rights to “Inside Durango TV.”
Sigillito said the partnership with FASTFORWARD Media is a plus for FASTSIGNS, enabling the company to offer video content produced by FASTFORWARD as a part of its advertising offerings. The company already manages digital signs in places such as the Durango Welcome Center and Durango-La Plata County Airport. Now it can produce the advertising content that plays on those screens, Sigillito said.
She gave the example of a car company that might be interested in producing a video advertisement about services and vehicles it offers, which then would be displayed on a digital sign managed by FASTSIGNS. The sign company also can offer “Inside Durango TV” as an advertising venue for businesses, Sigillito said.
From FASTFORWARD Media’s perspective, the partnership will allow the company access to FASTSIGNS’ content-management system, which allows for up-to-the-minute updates in the TV program, said Scot Davis, the new general manager and part owner of FASTFORWARD Media.
The partnership also will benefit the production company financially by bringing in new advertising dollars, he said. Creating more content hopefully will attract more local viewers, which will attract more local advertisers, Davis said. Sales representatives also will have a broader range of advertising options to offer with “Inside Durango TV,” which should boost advertising revenue, he said.
In terms of structure, the company won’t change much and will keep relationships with most of its existing clients, he said.
Davis is excited about the new possibilities of a an “Inside Durango TV” makeover.
“We want to make IDTV really, cool, fun, active TV content and longer content that people are engaged in,” he said.
The idea is to create a show people can watch every week, he said.
