Mesa County’s largest day care facility closing

GRAND JUNCTION – The largest child care facility in western Colorado’s Mesa County is closing this week after it was sold to an organization that plans to make it a preschool.

The Daily Sentinel reports that parents of children attending Kinder Haus Learning Center in Fruitvale were told of the closure last week.

Owners Christi and Mike Bocconcelli were to finalize the transaction with Rocky Mountain Head Start on Monday.

The Sentinel says the closure will last several weeks. Kinder Haus serves children ages 1-12, while the preschool will take in children between the ages of 3 and 5 who meet low-income requirements.

Christi Bocconcelli says Kinder Haus serves an average of 120 children. She says the owners didn’t know the facility was to temporarily close at the time of the sale.
