Mesa Verde National Park will host painter Carol Chamberland of Albuquerque as its artist in residence through Sept. 30.
Two free public programs will be offered during her stay:
Chamberland will discuss the influence of public lands on her work from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mancos Public Library, 211 E. First St., Mancos. Slides of her paintings and explorations will be shown.A 2.4-mile trail-side drawing hike along Petroglyph Point Trail will be offered from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 29, starting in the lobby of Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum at Mesa Verde. Participants will examine geology and sketch at the petroglyph panel, where Chamberland will give drawing tips.
