Because of reduced fire danger from rain and milder temperatures, Mesa Verde National Park has lifted the fire restrictions that were put in place July 1.
Open fires and charcoal fires are now permitted in Morefield Campground, Chapin Mesa Picnic Area and park residences. Smoking is also allowed in designated areas. Fireworks remain prohibited in the park, as usual.
Restrictions will be reinstated if fire danger increases.
