I’m writing to endorse Catherine Mewmaw for the Durango School District 9-R board.
Her six-year tenure as a 9-R teacher here make her the most qualified candidate. Having seen firsthand how decisions made at the board level affect the classrooms, Cathy’s priorities include paying the entire teaching staff a wage that is commensurate with long hours and dedication; initiating clearer communication and greater transparency between the board and community; and keeping staff members, students and families safe with mask mandates.
And, having spent hours teaching in the classrooms of Durango and Illinois, having the greatest sensitivity to the needs of all students and the strong desire to see them achieve to their full potential.
