Mike Gallegos

GALLEGOS

Tiffany resident Mike Gallegos died on Sept. 2, 2014 from complications from prostate cancer. He was 83 years old.

He was born on May 26, 1931 in La Boca to Agapita Lucero and Frank Gallegos.

Mike was a miner in one of the Silverton mines. He also worked at lumber mills in Pagosa Springs and Durango. He was a rancher and a farmer. His favorite line of work was herding sheep. He married Duby Archuleta in 1955.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Duby, two infant sons and a great-grandson, Sebastian Manriquez.

He is survived by Valentina and Dana Santistevan; grandsons Billy R. Gallegos and Cordell and David Santistevan; granddaughters Racquel and Mellie Santistevan, great-grandchildren Jullian Manriquez and Dana, Ava, and Lane Santistevan. He also is survived by his sister Mary Portillos and brothers Andy and Joe Gallegos of Pueblo, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has occurred and a private service will be held at his request. Donations may be sent to Hospice of Mercy, 1 Mercado Street Ste. 270 Durango, Colorado 81301.
