Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours will host a comprehensive cleanup of the Animas River Trail on June 4 to clear debris and protect local wildlife habitats.
A team of 75 volunteers is already set to launch, and community members are invited to join in. The morning-long cleanup will target four major zones along the river corridor. Volunteers and public participants will arrive at their respective sections at these times:
- North Section (arriving 9:45 a.m.): Starting at 32nd Street and walking south toward 29th Street.
- Upper Mid Section (Arriving 9:50 a.m.): Starting at 29th Street and walking south past the Durango High School Bridge and Paradise Beach.
- Lower Mid Section (Arriving 9:55 a.m.): Starting at Ninth Street and walking north through the corridor toward the Skate Park.
- Lower Section (Arriving 10 a.m.): Starting at Santa Rita Park and walking north toward the DoubleTree Hotel.
The cleanup will wrap up between 12:10 and 12:25 p.m., depending on the section. The Animas River Trail will remain fully open, but trail users should expect high pedestrian volume in these areas.
