Hitting as many errors as kills won’t win a volleyball match.
Fort Lewis College discovered that Saturday in Golden when the Skyhawks lost 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-12) to No. 12 Colorado Mines.
FLC (4-10, 1-5 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) had 19 kills in the match to go along with 19 hitting errors for a .000 hitting percentage.
The Skyhawks hit negative in two of the three sets.
Colorado Mines (12-2, 5-1 RMAC), conversely, hit .415 and only had eight errors.
Sophomore middle blocker Madi Bickle led FLC with seven kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Sophomore libero Ally Dell’Amico had 10 digs for the Skyhawks, while Ciara Krening had 13 assists.
Colorado Mines’ Megan Peterson led the Orediggers with 13 kills on a blistering .632 hitting percentage.
FLC now has lost three in a row, with another road trip looming next weekend.
The Skyhawks will play Western State at 7 p.m. Friday in Gunnison before heading to CSU-Pueblo on Saturday.
