In November, nearly 66 million people voted for Hillary Clinton; that’s 2.9 million more votes than Trump received. Nevertheless, Trump became president because of archaic, undemocratic, Electoral College rigging.
The majority voters were not just from California and New York, they live throughout our country and they voted. This minority President does not have a mandate to make sweeping changes to our government.
A much larger number of people marched the day after the Inauguration than those attending it, confirming that the majority of citizens want to keep the progressive achievements of the last eight years: affordable healthcare, response to global climate change, women’s right to chose appropriate medical services, etc.
While the blowhard President is promising more jobs at a time when unemployment is lower than anytime in 15 years, Congress should be stalwart in not undoing what is working for a majority of the people.
