Missing facts in immigration story

There was an interesting Associated Press story published last month on the front page of the second section (Herald, Feb. 11). It’s interesting because of what it doesn’t say. It’s about a Turkish couple and their issues with United States immigration laws. The couple was picked up based on the fact that they overstayed their visa. The story goes on to criticize the current administration and praises the support of locals.

Nowhere does it deal with the who, what, when and where that is the norm for reporting a story. Did the couple actually overstay their visa? We’ll never know, as the reporter never bothered to follow up – perhaps because that didn’t fit the anti-ICE narrative that prevails in today’s progressive media.
