The Housing Authority of Montezuma County has received its annual grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to maintain its public-housing units.
HUD grants to Colorado housing authorities this year total $10 million. HUD sends money annually to 3,100 such agencies nationwide.
The HUD grant to Montezuma County this year is $45,894, up slightly from years past, said Executive Director Terri Wheeler.
Grant money, which her office has received annually for a decade, is used to upgrade 31 units of public housing, Wheeler said.
Montezuma County received $44,771 in 2014, $38,029 in 2013 and $40,149 in 2012, Wheeler said. The county has received as much as $72,000, she said.
