Montezuma County to conduct roadwork north of Mancos

Montezuma County Road and Bridge Department will conduct chip-and-seal resurfacing work beginning July 24 on a five-mile section of West Mancos Road (Forest Service Road 561), from the San Juan National Forest boundary to Transfer Campground, about five miles north of Mancos.

The project is expected to last four days. Chip-and-seal work will improve road surfaces, reduce dust emissions and allow the county to save on long-term road-maintenance costs.

Construction vehicles will be active in the area while work is underway. Motorists should expect up to 30-minute delays and are cautioned to reduce speed until loose chips have been removed from the roadway.
