Taking a team-high four shots on goal during last Sunday's Senior Day match versus Urbana (Ohio) University, former Bayfield High School star Keenan Moreta helped Blue Knight goalkeeper Taylor Gianangeli tie her career-high of 15 saves. Moreta also helped pace West Virginia Wesleyan College towards a 1-0 win and also an undefeated 2015 regular soccer season.
WVWC then officially capped its campaign standing a scorching 16-0-2 overall and 14-0-2 in Mountain East Conference action, with last Wednesday's 1-nil win at West Liberty (W.Va.) University. The Hilltoppers did well to limit Moreta to one shot on Allie Warsaw-securing the Lady Bobcats the #1 seed in this week's MEC Tournament. It was Wesleyan's 10th consecutive shutout with the team going 8-0-2 during that stretch.
Ranked #11 in the Oct. 27 NSCAA/NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Coaches' poll (Durango-based Fort Lewis College was just outside the top 25 as a 'Receiving Votes' side), West Virginia Wesleyan welcomed 4-seed Shepherd University in yesterday's MEC Tournament semifinals, but results were unavailable at press time. WVWC is located in Buckhannon, West Virginia.
A forward majoring in Marketing, Moreta is one of eight seniors on Wesleyan's roster.
