Taylor Morris scored a goal on each side of the halftime break, as the senior helped lead her Wolverines past Pine River rival Ignacio High School.
Bayfield High School’s girls soccer team mounted a 4-0 halftime lead after a Morris goal in stoppage time of the first half. She added another in the 58th minute, and BHS cruised to a 6-0 victory Wednesday at Ignacio.
BHS (5-7, 304 3A Region 5) struck first in the 9th minute on a goal by Savannah Kaufmann. She was assisted by Tayler Ludwig.
Misty Helton added the Wolverines’ second goal in the 20th minute, and Peyton Gomez added the team’s third in the 36th minute of play.
Ignacio’s starting goalkeeper went down with an injury late in the first half. Morris quickly welcomed the Bobcats’ backup with her first goal of the game.
Sophie Turner added one final goal for the Wolverines in the 64th minute.
Ignacio (0-9, 0-6 2A Region 4) had one shot on goal, and it came in stoppage time of the second half. Lana McKee made the save for Bayfield.
The Wolverines will hit the road Friday to play Ridgway. That match will be followed by a game Saturday at Telluride.
Ignacio will travel Thursday to play at Del Norte.
