Purgatory Resort opened the Purgatory Express (Lift 1) for lift-served mountain biking July 22.

The lift has 14 Deason Built MTB carriers for increased capacity and efficiency to safely transport riders and their equipment to Durango’s only lift-served downhill mountain bike flow trail.

Purgatory’s Bike Park features terrain for all abilities and serves as the gateway to more than 400 miles of high alpine singletrack and backcountry trails.

Purgatory will host mountain bikers from across the globe at the Big Mountain Enduro, Aug. 28 to 29, and the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike Championships, Oct. 14 to 17.

Purgatory will also continue with the construction of Shangri-La, a multiphase beginner mountain bike trail.
