Thank you to Mountain Middle School and Shane Voss for letting us use your fabulous school to host a dog handling seminar. We spent a weekend training our local dog handlers how to compete in the big leagues in advance of our annual dog show.
Not only did Voss immediately say “yes” when asked if we could use their space but he refused any remuneration. As a small nonprofit in Durango we appreciate him supporting us.
The Durango Kennel Club, founded in 1962, also believes in being a supporter of the community. During the 416 Fire, we secured donations of $10,000 to the La Plata Humane Society to provide housing for evacuated dogs.
In partnership with the American Kennel Club, we have donated a total of $20,000 to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office to help them acquire two trained police dogs.
To protect our dogs, we hold Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinics twice a year; the next one is on June 7. We so appreciate Mountain Middle School and Shane Voss helping us make ourselves even better dog families.
