Mountain Middle School to hold building grand opening Jan. 18

Mountain Middle School sixth-graders participate in a competition at the end of an eight-week project called Bridging the Gap where students learned about forces, Newton’s Laws and gravity.

Mountain Middle School will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, to celebrate the opening of its expanded building.

The expansion includes three classrooms, small meeting areas, collaboration space, an exhibition hall, staff and visitor parking, an outdoor kiva, playground equipment and a soon-to-be-completed community park.

The new 5,000-square-foot facility is solar-powered and will allow the school to offer fourth and fifth grades, adding 60 students in August.

The ceremony at 108 W. 31st St. is open to the public.
