Multi-event center presentation Monday night

Meeting will reveal three proposed options for Ewing Mesa
Planners will reveal three options for the development of a proposed multi-event center on Ewing Mesa.

A presentation of three draft options for the La Plata County Multi-Event Center will be held Monday night at the La Plata County Administration Building, 1101 East Second Ave.

The presentations, to be held at 5 p.m. and again at 6 p.m., will include a description of the preferred option for developing a new location for the La Plata County Fairgrounds on Ewing Mesa.

This meeting is the third and final public presentation of the multi-event center with planners hoping to have a draft master plan finalized by this fall, officials have previously said.

The proposed location is commonly known as Ewing Mesa, an area east of the Animas River above Highway 3 purchased by Durango resident Marc Katz with the intent of donating 200 acres to the county for a multi-purpose event center.

Planners have drafted three options, which can be viewed on the project’s website at http://bit.ly/2uD6X2h.
