The swim meets keep getting bigger for Durango’s Anne Mummery.
The Durango High School and Durango Swim Club athlete will compete in her first USA Swimming Speedo Sectionals meet March 26-29 in Austin, Texas.
It will be the largest meet of Mummery’s career, DSC head coach Suzanne Schieltz said in a news release.
Mummery will compete against swimmers form Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah.
“This has been my goal since I was a freshman in high school and now I’ve finally made it,” Mummery said in an email to The Durango Herald.
Another top area youth swimmer, Haley Benjamin, finished her short course season at the Age Group State meet from March 6-8 in Thornton.
She won two distance events and finished in the top-five of her other two races.
Benjamin took first in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 17 minutes, 15.34 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.67.
She was third in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 400-yard individual medley.
