Tickets are on sale now for Music in the Mountains summer classical music festival to be held July 6 through July 28. This season expects a powerful lineup of performances featuring orchestra, chamber music and free community concerts of classical and world music.
Artistic Director Gregory Hustis and Music Director and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa assemble all-star soloists and special guests from around the world and bring them to Durango and surrounding communities for three weeks of performances.
This year’s lineup of guest conductors will include: Grammy award winner JoAnn Falletta, Byron Stripling, Richard Kaufman and Thomas Heuser.
Soloists this year will include: Philippe Quint and Emmanuelle Boisvert, violin; Elizabeth Joy Roe, piano; plus vocalists Helen Welch and Carmen Bradford, group performances by Eileen Ivers Band, FY5, Boyd Meets Girl and more.
This year’s orchestral concerts are moving to the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Other venues will include: Sky Ute Casino Event Center, Cascade Village Event Center, St. Columba Catholic Church, First United Methodist Church, Sunflower Theatre in Cortez and Bayfield Performing Arts Center.
