Tickets are on sale now for Music in the Mountains summer classical music festival beginning July 7 and running through July 31.
This season, expect a powerful lineup of performances featuring orchestra, chamber music and free community concerts of classical and world music. Artistic Director Gregory Hustis and Music Director and Conductor Guillermo Figueroa assemble all-star soloists from around the globe and bring them to Durango, Colorado and surrounding communities for four weeks of performances with the Festival Orchestra.
The guest soloist lineup this year includes: Vadim Gluzman and Erin Schreiber, violin; Byron Stripling, trumpet and conductor; Tomoko Kanamaru, and Min Kwon, piano; the Durango Choral Society; world-music group performances by Barefoot Movement; and more.
This year’s orchestral concerts will be performed in the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. Other venues include Sky Ute Casino Event Center, Glacier Club, St. Columba Catholic Church, Sunflower Theatre in Cortez and LePlatt’s Pond in Bayfield.
