Music in the Mountains announced the return of its Taste of Music concert Tuesday.

Students in fourth and fifth grade from Durango, Bayfield, Ignacio, Dolores and Mancos will attend a free field trip featuring performances by the Fort Lewis College Music Department at the Community Concert Hall at FLC. Along with Skyler the Skyhawk, students will go on a musical journey that teaches them about instruments and the various ensembles they make up, helping to guide them as they prepare to choose an instrument in middle school.

Music in the Mountains is an organization with a fully integrated festival of orchestra and chamber music and a year-round schools program called Music in the Mountains Goes to School. Southwest Colorado’s premier three-week classical music festival is preparing for its 34th season.
