Music in the Mountains welcomes new board members

Music in the Mountains is proud to announce the appointment of five new board members.

Elizabeth Cartier is a tenure-track associate professor at the School of Business Administration at Fort Lewis College, and she and her husband own J.Bo’s Pizza and Rib, Co.

Dwight Frankfather has a background in commercial banking executing real estate construction loans. He also has previous experience with the arts, working closely with Durango’s Third Avenue Arts organization on fundraising and audio-visual components.

Beth Porter has an extensive career in marketing and advertising spanning over 30 years. She previously served on the board of the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs and continues to be involved with multiple community organizations.

Brad Tafoya, a partner of Tafoya Barrett and Associates PC, has previously served on the boards of several local nonprofits. As a supporter of Music in the Mountains, he understands the benefits the organization brings to the economy and culture of the local community.

Pete Varney, emeritus geology professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, has spent nearly 25 years playing in orchestras, bands, and small ensembles. He has served on the board of the Denver Concert Band, Littleton Symphony and Great Western Rocky Mountain Brass Band. Varney is a strong supporter of youth musical education, and has an extensive background working with varied nonprofits.
