The current building of mega-storied name-brand-hotels in the heart of Durango is going to harm existing mom-and-pop motels. Price wars will greatly reduce typical summer room rates and many will turn into the likes of North Main motels with long-term stays.
Soon, all the Durango mom-and-pops will be renting rooms at a major discount to barely stay alive. Only corporate hotels can afford empty rooms as a write-off.
