Obama golfs with Larry David during last day of vacation
OAK BLUFFS, Mass. – President Barack Obama is wrapping up his Martha’s Vineyard vacation by playing golf with comedian Larry David.
The president hit the links Saturday with an unlikely foursome that includes David, former U.S. trade representative Ron Kirk and businessman Glenn Hutchins, a part owner of the Boston Celtics.
Obama has golfed most days during his weeklong getaway, which ends today. Obama spent a couple hours Saturday morning with his wife and daughters on a private beach on the island’s south shore.
The first family is staying in a secluded four-bedroom rental home in Chilmark. The president has kept a low profile during his stay. He spoke out publicly only once, to condemn escalating violence in Egypt.
Police motorcycle ride pays tribute to fallen MIT officer
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A procession of police officers on motorcycles has paid tribute to fallen Massachusetts Institute of Technology Officer Sean Collier by putting a single red rose where he died.
More than 100 officers from Boston area police departments took part in Saturday’s ride, which started in Cambridge.
Organizers say the event was put on by Ride4Cops and raised $50,000 to help families of officers who die in the line of duty.
Saturday’s procession also visited the Law Enforcement Memorial at the Massachusetts Statehouse in Boston, where participants placed a wreath.

TV star appears at couple’s Field & Stream wedding
MARS, Pa. – A camouflage-clad bride and groom got a little advice from a bewhiskered witness on their wedding day: “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson.
WTAE-TV reports Robertson told the couple to always love and forgive one another as they were wed Saturday morning at a Field & Stream store near Pittsburgh.
Robertson popped in for the nuptials of Mehgan Cook, who sported a camouflage sash on her dress, and Charlie Miller, who was completely clad in camo gear.
The two hadn’t planned on marrying at the store but Cook said they were eager to meet Robertson.
“I was going to cancel the wedding ’cause I heard Willie was coming,” Cook told KDKA-TV.
Instead, Cook said, her mother came up with the idea of a wedding at the store – and they got a surprise when Robertson appeared during the ceremony.

NTSB: No problems found with controls in UPS crash
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Federal investigators haven’t found any problems with the controls in a UPS cargo jet that crashed while landing in Alabama, killing the two pilots.
National Transportation Safety Board member Robert Sumwalt says the cockpit controls in the A300 aircraft appeared to be working before the crash, and they matched the positions of the airplane’s flaps and rudders.
Sumwalt’s comments came during a news conference Saturday at Birmingham’s airport, where the jet went down early Wednesday about one mile from the runway.
Investigators previously said they don’t see any problems with the plane’s engines, but that a cockpit warning went off seconds before the crash indicating the plane was descending faster than normal.
The plane’s data recorder shows the autopilot was engaged, but Sumwalt says that’s not unusual.
