Starbucks’ CEO says: I’m not running
In a response to recent speculation that he is being drafted into the 2016 race, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said Thursday that he’s not running.
In an op-ed in The New York Times, the founder of the global coffee chain wrote that “despite the encouragement of others, I have no intention of entering the presidential fray. I’m not done serving at Starbucks.”
Schultz ticked off some of the things he has offered part-time employees at Starbucks health care, free college education, stock options. And he wrote that “there is more we can do as a public company to demonstrate responsible leadership.”
Gas prices go down 11 cents in 2 weeks
CAMARILLO, Calif. – The average price of gasoline has dropped 11 cents over the last two weeks to $2.71 a gallon.
Industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said Sunday that the current average sits 81 cents below the year-ago price.
The cheapest price recorded in the continental United States was $2.19 a gallon in Charleston, South Carolina.
The highest was $3.80 a gallon in Los Angeles. California saw a 21-cent price drop over the past two weeks – after a huge spike caused by a brief supply shortage.
Lundberg says supplies are flowing again, and pump prices are poised to drop further in the Golden State.
The national average price of diesel was down 8 cents over the same period to $2.78 a gallon.
Target will segregate its toys no more
Two months ago, an Ohio mom’s tweet went viral when she called out Target for separating “building sets” and “girls’ building sets.” Now, the retailer is fixing the problem for building sets and all toys, plus bedding, home decor, entertainment and more.
The toy section will get the biggest makeover, according to the retailer’s announcement. Along with grouping all toys together, the aisles will no longer have colored backdrops to indicate gender.
