Google to supply reports on accidents

NEW YORK – Google will release monthly reports on the performance of its self-driving cars, and it disclosed summaries of the 12 accidents that involved the vehicles.

Google described all of the accidents as minor, saying no injuries were reported. The company said Friday, as it has in the past, that the self-driving technology was not to blame for any of the accidents.

In one case, however, an employee used the self-driving car to run an errand and rear-ended another car that was stopped in traffic. Google had previously disclosed that accident, which happened in August 2011.

Another drone seen near White House

WASHINGTON – The White House has once again been locked down after a drone was spotted in the area.

That’s according to a federal official, who wasn’t authorized to comment by name and requested anonymity.

The official says security was bumped up Friday afternoon but has returned to normal at the White House.

This is the second time in as many months that a drone incident has prompted a lockdown. In May, the Secret Service apprehended a man flying a small drone in a park outside the White House.
