National Weather Service issues flash flood watch

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch Tuesday afternoon that is in effect until Friday.

Rain has been reported in Vallecito and Ignacio, but none had fallen in Bayfield as of 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The NWS office in Grand Junction reported that a slow-moving storm cell is moving from Telluride. Lightning and local heavy rains are possible through the next few days.

Vallecito, Durango and Silverton are included in the short-term forecast warning.

The weather service said flash flooding is possible throughout the Four Corners through Friday because storms are moving only 5 mph and dropping lots of rain. The greatest threat of flash flooding is in the late afternoon on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
