The Southwest Chapter of the Colorado Native Plant Society will offer a free presentation at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in the Lyceum Room of the Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College.
Botanist John Bregar will present “The Amazing Aster Family.” Identifying members of this large, common but diverse family can be difficult. Bregar will review some of the terminology and key characters to evaluate when trying to ID members of this family. He will illustrate the diversity of genera and species within the aster family, finishing with a few special species that show remarkable evolutionary quirks.
Bregar is the chairman of the Southwest Chapter of the Colorado Native Plant Society. He is a retired geologist/geophysicist and an avid birder and mountain climber.
