Nebo Fire area closure lifted in Weminuche Wilderness

Because of significant moisture falling on the Nebo Fire, the Nebo Fire area closure has been rescinded effective Monday.

Fire crews have been patrolling the 40-acre Nebo Fire, burning in a remote northeastern corner of the Weminuche Wilderness, with air resources and regular infrared flights that have detected no change in fire perimeter or additional acreage burned. The Nebo Fire is burning in bug killed spruce, high alpine grass and shrubs. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The fire area closure went into effect Oct. 16 for the area surrounding the Nebo Fire. This closure included parts of the Vallecito Creek Trail, Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, Johnson Creek Trail, Lake Fork Trail and the Flint Creek Trail. The closure has now been lifted and all trails are open.
