‘Never seen highways neglected so badly’

Anyone else tired of dodging potholes? I realize it’s been a hard winter, but we’ve had hard winters before and I have never seen our highways neglected so badly.

I’ve lived in La Plata County for over 30 years and never seen potholes go unfilled this long. I caught up with a Colorado Department of Transportation plow driver while fueling up and asked, why? The reply was, “We have have no patching material.” Huh?

I pressed further. “We don’t have money to buy asphalt,” the plow driver said. Is the state of Colorado broke? “No, just this area,” the driver said.

Seriously? Shame on you CDOT, shame on you.
