Durango Adult Education Center will launch Bound for Learning, a community book club for curious and continuous learners, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the center, 701 Camino del Rio, Ste 301, classroom 1.
This free club embodies the center’s commitment to education and will help community members reconnect after a year of pandemic separation and isolation.
The first book will be “Diné Reader: An Anthology of Navajo Literature,” a collection of Navajo writing edited by Esther G. Belin and Connie A. Jacobs, who will also guide discussions.
Jacobs taught literature at both Fort Lewis College and San Juan College. Belin is an award-winning Navajo poet and author who also teaches in the MFA program at the Institute of American Arts in Santa Fe.
Bound for Learning members receive a 15% discount on book club books purchased at Maria’s Bookshop.
Future meetings will take place on the third Thursday of each month.
