The dogs, cats and other animals at the La Plata County Humane Society have an ally in the new music duo Wells & van Tyn.
The duo – made up of CV Wells on guitar and vocals and Jeroen van Tyn on violin – will perform a benefit show for the Humane Society next weekend at Durango Arts Center.
The two, both of whom have rescue dogs, will be performing their first show in Durango, where they plan to take their audience on a musical and storytelling journey.
Wells, known in the California Wine Country for his soaring vocals and narrative songs, and van Tyn, Stillwater Music’s executive director and classically trained violinist and vocalist, met by chance at the Smiley building where van Tyn was performing. It wasn’t until a little over a year later the two got together to play.
“There’s some kind of magic here,” Wells said.
All proceeds from the show will go to the La Plata County Humane Society.
“It’s my way of giving back and having had so many rescue dogs,” Wells said.
The duo will mostly play Wells’ original songs.
“This guy’s a poet,” van Tyn said. “It’s worth a listen.”
