There are a few changes at Durango High School for fans attending athletic events at the school’s stadium this year, including Friday night’s season opening football game against Farmington.

The entrance to the stadium will now go through the main entrance of the high school. Side entrances will not be accessible, though fans will be able to exit from the side gates as the building will be locked and secured during fourth quarter of football games.

Backpacks aren’t allowed in the stadium, and no bags larger than 10x10 inches will be allowed in unless they’re clear. All bags will also be searched upon entry.

No bottles or containers will be allowed in, nor outside food or drink. Concessions will still be available.

There will be no reentry after leaving the stadium.

Children 13-and-under will need to be supervised by their parents at all times while in the stadium.

Fans are not permitted on the track or outside of the bleacher areas near the field.

Parking is limited because of construction so the school is suggesting people carpool, bike or walk to events. Only the main student parking lot is available.

The same rules will apply to all events at the DHS stadium, including soccer and lacrosse.

“We feel like this is a better all around experience for our fans compared to entering on the north end of the building,” said district athletic director Ryan Knorr. “It's a more secure/controlled entry and most of those changes regarding bags and supervision are safety related as well. Our goal is to give our community the best overall experience on Friday nights in our stadium!”
