New letter to Senator Michael Bennet

Senator Bennet, I am writing you again today from my home in Durango to express my dismay and alarm at recent events transpiring in our nation’s capital.

Today is the annual address by the POTUS known as the State of the Union Address. In view of the dizzying litany of events unfolding I find the Union to be in peril.

A brief recounting of events includes a recent government shutdown, a pending memo release by the House Intel Committee, (heavily edited by Rep Nunes to fit GOP narrative), the forced early retirement of Deputy Director McCabe of the FBI, the tenuous position of the assistant Attorney General, the firing of the director of the FBI, the ongoing pressure to bring to a close an investigation critical to shedding light on the events surrounding the 2016 general election, the ongoing defamation of the fourth estate and the persistent sycophantic behavior of members of the House of Representatives in hopes of achieving the “Conservative Agenda.”

Students of history know well how “good men” have used the old maxim of “the ends justifies the means.” To empower through endorsement – or silence – inflammatory rhetoric, misrepresentations of the truth, bullying behavior, obfuscation, obstruction of justice and sexual predation simply to achieve “The Agenda” is a cynical and misguided philosophy of governance.

I sincerely pray the “good men” in Washington D.C. will come together and act in the best interests of the United States of America.

Hal McLean
