I am a young woman with cerebral palsy, and I read the article dated April 30 regarding the new handicap logo. I do like the new logo, and I also like the old one.
There are disabled people who do not fit either of these images. They are not passive, and they are not athletically active either. These people are fully active in a myriad of ways that a simple logo can never depict.
When I looked at the new logo proposal, it evoked in me a sense of needing to be more active, but this is not possible. I do not want people with disabilities to feel disempowered because they can’t be as flexible in their bodies as the new logo depicts.
Being empathetic, I can see both sides of the issue.
