After reading that the new owner of our local ski area is going to rename it back to its original name, I felt the need to express that the name is not nearly as important as the product that has been offered over the years.
The lack of improvements are not only embarrassing but quite frustrating when trying to enjoy a day of skiing that has come at a premium price. I would like to get back the countless hours I have spent sitting on Chair 8 while it crawls at a snail’s pace or stops completely for 20 minutes at a time. It is more often than not that both my feet have fallen asleep while sitting on this antiquated lift. Dante’s is an abomination, always overcrowded and out of the food it advertises. The staff is always scrambling and apologizing for what they can’t provide. Powderhouse serves no purpose in my opinion, and it would make more sense to take those people and use them at Dante’s.
It is my hope that the new owner addresses the deferred maintenance of the past and makes the necessary improvements to get Purgatory back to where it should be. A quick trip to Telluride would serve him well to see what a true ski resort offers.
