New owners expand Bayberry Market, offer UPS shipping

Bayfield business now offers UPS shipping

The new owners of Bayberry Market are bringing new artisans' work to the store and invite customers to stop by for holiday shopping.

Sixteen people sell their hand-made goods through the market.

"There are a lot of talented people who live here," said Jessica Wanless, who owns the shop with her husband, Mark Haeussler. She has owned bead shops and jewelry boutiques in Manitou Springs and Taos. It's different running a store in Bayfield, which doesn't have as many tourists.

"I have to an opportunity to be better connected to the community," she said. She's a member of the Friends of the Pine River Library, and her husband heads up the District Advisory and Accountability Committee (DAAC) for the Bayfield School District. They're also active in the Bayfield Chamber of Commerce.

Recently, the shop became a UPS commercial counter. Customers can drop off UPS packages at no charge, and staff can print out UPS labels and has a small selection of boxes and wrap for shipping.

On the gift side, jewelry, handcrafted lotions and soaps and hand-made bowls and dishes by two local potters are popular sellers, Wanless said.

Bayberry Market is located at 271 1/2 N. Mountain View Drive.

The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.
