The new playground at the Pine River Library Park is full of fun equipment for kids to climb up or spin around.

A new donor wall, with contributors' names engraved in wooden books, was unveiled at the park opening.
For Veterans Day on Nov. 11, the park opening also included a flag raising and commemoration of local veterans. Richard Schleeter, the La Plata County Veterans' Services Officer; County Commissioner Julie Westendorff; Library Director Shelley Walchak; and Tony Schrier of the Bayfield American Legion Post led the event.
With hot chocolate and s'mores to ward off a blustery day, Pine River Library officially opened its new park on Saturday, Nov. 11. The grand opening also included a commemoration of local servicemen and servicewomen for Veterans Day. The park's new courts for basketball and pickleball are popular with local outdoor enthusiasts.
The Town of Bayfield and the library partnered to receive a Great Outdoors Colorado grant to pay for most of the park cost.
